Grants for Women & Girls

One of the world's largest sources of funding exclusively for graduate women, the American Association of University Women Educational Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their
careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented.  Deadlines for 2008-09 are approaching - see the following list:

*  American Fellowships

support women doctoral candidates completing dissertations and scholars
seeking funds for postdoctoral research leave or for preparing completed
research for publication. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent
residents. One-year postdoctoral research leave fellowships,
dissertation fellowships, and summer/short-term research publication
grants are offered. DEADLINE: Nov. 15

*  Career Development Grants

>  support women who hold a bachelor's degree and who are preparing
to advance their careers, change careers, or re-enter the work force.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

*  Community Action Grants

>  provide seed money to individual women, AAUW branches and AAUW
state organizations, as well as local community-based nonprofit
organizations for innovative programs or non-degree research projects
that promote education and equity for women and girls. Applicants must
be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
DEADLINE: Jan. 15

*  International Fellowships

are awarded for full-time graduate or postgraduate study or research to
women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Supplemental
grants support community-based projects in the fellow's home country.
DEADLINE: Dec. 1

*  Selected Professions Fellowships

awarded to women who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who
intend to pursue a full-time course of study (during the fellowship
year) in designated degree programs where women's participation
traditionally has been low.

SYSTERS PASS-IT-ON GRANTS - The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology Systers
Each recipient is requested to pass on the benefits of the grant to other girls or women, either through monetary awards or projects that benefit girls and women.  Awards are expected to be in the $500-$1000 (US) range, with one or more funded each year from donations. Applications for the grants through September 30, 2007, and will be accepted again in 2008 for a second round of awards. Grants will provide funds enabling women to advance in the business and technical arenas." The grants are intended to help women advance in technology fields themselves or to help others do so. The award can be used to help with studies, job transitions, projects that help girls and women get into technology or educational fees and materials in a computing field.

The American Association of University Women offers International Fellowships that are "awarded for full-time graduate or postgraduate study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents."

"Getting Girls to Increase Exercise and Physical Activity"
Women's Sports Foundation GoGirlGo! Ambassador Team Awards inspire teams to help fight the disturbing physical and psychological health risks affecting Americas inactive youth. Teams must lead their own team project that will get girls in their communities physically active and submit a detailed essay or a VHS, DVD or CD-ROM telling about the project. Maximum Award: $2,500. Eligibility: School, amateur, community and/or nonprofit affiliated teams whose members are female, enrolled in 9th-12th grade and residents of the United States. Deadline: February 16, 2007.

USC Interactive Entertainment Summer Camp JULY 3 2006 to the 30th. There are scholarships available for girls to attend the summer video game design seminar at USC.
